Another flower post! We just can't help ourselves, after all, we are a flower farm 😄 This one's about Narcissus and their care after blossoms have faded.

Follow the steps below to ensure abundant blooms year after year:

🌱 Cut off the old flower heads after they are done blooming.

🌱Remove foliage and stems AFTER they yellow and die back naturally, usually around six weeks after flowering. This allows the plants to convert sunlight to chemical energy and to store sugars for the following season.

🌱Dig up bulbs every three or four years in fall, around six weeks before the first expected frost. Loosen the soil with a handheld garden fork, taking care not to puncture the bulbs. Lift them from the loosened soil.

🌱Separate the bulbs by gently twisting and pulling them apart. Throw out any damaged or diseased bulbs and save the largest and firmest for replanting.

🌱Spread 2-3 inches of mulch over the bulb bed after the first frost to provide soil insulation. Gradually remove the mulch each spring as the narcissus break through the soil.

🌱Mark the location of the bulbs in spring before the foliage dies so they are easier to find in the fall.
